Crude Oil Price Today
The crude oil price moved lower on Thursday after recording gains for six consecutive sessions. Brent crude futures fell 1.5%, or $1.29, to $87.69 a barrel at 0100 GMT, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude declined 1.6%, or $1.30, to $81.97, Reuters reported.
The decline came as investors monitored developments surrounding the U.S.-Iran conflict, peace negotiations and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The waterway remains a key route for global oil shipments, with disruptions affecting expectations around supply.
The Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries lowered its forecast for global oil demand growth in 2026 to 580,000 barrels per day in its monthly report released on Wednesday.
Global Oil Supply Remains In Focus
The International Energy Agency has projected a global oil supply shortfall of 1.8 million barrels per day during the current quarter. It also expects oil consumption to contract by 1.6 million barrels per day in 2026, compared with its previous forecast of a 1 million barrels-per-day decline.
For Indian consumers, domestic fuel rates remain unchanged despite the recent movement in the crude oil price. State-run oil marketing companies continue to publish retail petrol and diesel prices daily, with rates varying across cities because of differences in local taxes and other charges.
