Petrol, Diesel And CNG Prices Remain Unchanged on July 28; Check Latest City-Wise Fuel Rates

Petrol, diesel and CNG prices were unchanged on Tuesday, July 28, as oil marketing companies (OMCs) and city gas distribution companies continued with their daily fuel price revision schedule at 6 a.m. Fuel prices stayed stable in all major cities, but there were considerable variations from state to state because of different local levies and taxes.

Fuel rates vary across India because of state-level value-added tax (VAT), freight charges and dealer commissions, even though the base price remains largely uniform. The latest petrol price and diesel rates continue to reflect these regional differences.

Petrol And Diesel Prices Across Major Cities

The latest petrol price remained highest in Hyderabad at ₹115.69 per litre, followed by Thiruvananthapuram at ₹115.49 per litre. Among the cities listed, Chandigarh continued to record the lowest petrol price at ₹98.10 per litre. New Delhi and Lucknow also remained among the lower-priced markets at ₹102.12 and ₹102.05 per litre, respectively.

CNG Prices Stay Stable

CNG prices also remained unchanged across major cities. Rates stood at ₹83.09 per kg in New Delhi, ₹86 in Mumbai, ₹82.25 in Ahmedabad, ₹91.70 in Gurgaon and Noida, ₹90 in Bengaluru, ₹90.91 in Jaipur, ₹91.50 in Chennai, ₹92.50 in Pune, ₹93.50 in Kolkata, ₹95.75 in Lucknow and ₹97 per kg in Hyderabad.

Diesel Rates Continue To Vary Across States

Diesel prices showed a similar regional pattern. Thiruvananthapuram continued to report the highest diesel price among the listed cities at ₹104.40 per litre, followed by Hyderabad at ₹103.82 per litre. Chandigarh remained the least expensive market for diesel at ₹86.09 per litre, while New Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida continued to report prices below ₹96 per litre.

The current fuel rates come after OMCs recently increased petrol and diesel prices by around ₹7.5 per litre following higher crude price levels amid tensions in West Asia. Separately, the government, in its latest fortnightly review, raised the export duty on diesel and aviation turbine fuel while leaving the export levy on petrol unchanged. The daily revision mechanism remains in place, with any future change in the petrol price, diesel or CNG rates depending on broader market conditions and official pricing decisions.
