Petrol And Diesel Prices In Major Cities

Prices of fuel have been varying in different cities due to differences in taxes levied by different state governments and transport costs incurred while transporting fuel from one city to another.

Petrol is priced at ₹94.77 per litre, and diesel is priced at ₹87.67 per litre in New Delhi. Petrol is priced at ₹103.50 per litre, and diesel is priced at ₹90.03 per litre in Mumbai. Petrol is priced at ₹100.80 per litre, and diesel is priced at ₹92.39 per litre in Chennai.

Fuel prices in the National Capital Region also remain steady. Petrol in Gurgaon is priced at ₹95.44 per litre while diesel costs ₹87.90 per litre. In Noida, petrol is priced at ₹94.77 per litre and diesel at ₹87.89 per litre.

Global Oil Prices Remain Elevated

Global crude oil prices remained elevated amid geopolitical tensions in West Asia. Benchmark Brent crude futures were trading at $104.19 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate crude fell $1.07, or 1.08%, to $97.64 per barrel as of 7 AM on March 16, according to Reuters.

Oil prices have risen sharply in recent weeks following military actions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The strait carries nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply.

Government Says Fuel Supply Is Adequate

The government has stated that fuel availability in the country remains stable despite global supply concerns.

According to ANI, Sujata Sharma, a Petroleum Ministry official, said India currently has adequate crude oil supply and that refineries are operating at full capacity. She stated that there have been no reports of fuel shortages at retail outlets.

The stability in domestic petrol and diesel prices comes even as international crude oil prices remain elevated, with authorities maintaining supply through existing reserves and refinery operations.
