Fuel prices were unchanged in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and several other cities, according to data released by state-run oil marketing companies.

The Indian rupee also weakened against the U.S. dollar on Monday, touching a record low of ₹95.23 per dollar.

Crude Oil Prices Decline

Global oil prices declined for the second straight session on Wednesday after comments from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding possible progress toward easing tensions involving Iran.

According to Reuters data, Brent crude futures for July delivery declined by $1.52, or 1.38%, to $108.35 per barrel during early trade. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures for June delivery fell by $1.50, or 1.47%, to $100.77 per barrel.

The decline followed a sharp fall in crude prices during the previous trading session.

Trump said the U.S. would temporarily pause operations linked to ship escorts in the Strait of Hormuz. He also referred to discussions related to a possible agreement involving Iran, although no official details were announced.

Iran Foreign Minister To Visit China

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to visit China on May 6 for discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

According to a statement issued by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit will include discussions on bilateral relations and regional developments.

Iran’s IRNA news agency quoted Araghchi as saying that consultations between Iran and Oman were necessary because both countries are located along the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s key oil shipping routes and has remained in focus following recent geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

Oil prices, currency movement and developments in the global energy market are expected to remain under watch in the coming sessions.
