Quarterly earnings announcements remained in focus on May 29 as companies from the automobile, infrastructure, aviation, consumer and education sectors reported their March quarter numbers.

Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland posted a 14.2% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit at ₹1,290.7 crore for the fourth quarter of FY26, compared with ₹1,130.1 crore a year earlier. Revenue from operations rose 17.4% to ₹17,246.4 crore against ₹14,695.6 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Edtech company PhysicsWallah reported a sharp narrowing of losses during the quarter. Consolidated loss stood at ₹74.9 crore compared with ₹293.1 crore in the year-ago period, while revenue climbed 50.7% to ₹918.8 crore.

GMR Airports Returns To Profit

GMR Airports reported a consolidated profit of ₹302.4 crore for the March quarter against a loss of ₹237.6 crore a year earlier. Revenue increased 37.5% year-on-year to ₹3,938.2 crore.

Jewellery retailer PC Jeweller recorded a 61.3% rise in profit at ₹152.9 crore, while revenue rose 32.7% to ₹927.3 crore.

Meanwhile, Varroc Engineering reported a 236.9% jump in consolidated net profit to ₹69.3 crore. Revenue rose 12.8% to ₹2,368.1 crore. The company did not report any exceptional loss during the quarter compared with an exceptional loss of ₹56.4 crore in the previous year.

Bata India, Hikal Report Weak Earnings

Bata India reported a steep 95.2% decline in quarterly profit to ₹2.2 crore compared with ₹45.9 crore a year earlier. Revenue increased 5% to ₹827.6 crore. The company also reported a voluntary retirement scheme expense of ₹28 crore during the quarter.

Hikal posted a 71.3% fall in profit at ₹14.4 crore, while revenue declined 6% to ₹519.4 crore.

Similarly, Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation reported a 49.7% decline in quarterly profit to ₹139.4 crore despite a 12.9% rise in revenue.

Infra And Industrial Stocks In Focus

HG Infra Engineering posted a 42.1% drop in profit to ₹85.1 crore, while revenue rose 4.8% to ₹1,426.8 crore.

The company also said it was declared the successful bidder by REC Power Development & Consultancy for an inter-state transmission project in Jharkhand with annual transmission charges of ₹114.5 crore for 35 years.

Enviro Infra Engineers reported a 29.1% decline in profit at ₹51.9 crore, while revenue rose 8.8% to ₹427.3 crore. Its subsidiary, Suyog Urja, secured a ₹207.5 crore order for a hybrid renewable energy project.

Among other companies, Gabriel India reported modest profit growth, while PG Electroplast posted declines in both profit and revenue for the quarter.
