Stock Market Closed on Christmas: NSE, BSE and MCX Shut on December 25
Last Updated: 24th December 2025 - 12:08 pm
Indian stock markets will remain closed on Thursday, December 25, 2025, in observance of Christmas. Both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will not conduct any trading activities on the day, making it the final stock market holiday of the calendar year 2025. The closure comes in line with the festive break, during which several major global markets, including those in the UK, the U.S. and Europe, will also remain shut.
No Trading Across Key Segments
For those asking is market open tomorrow, the answer is no across all major segments. This includes equities, equity derivatives and the securities lending and borrowing (SLB) segment on both the NSE and the BSE. Market participants will also not be able to trade in the currency segment, as it will remain closed for the entire day.
Commodity Markets to Remain Shut
Commodity markets will also observe a complete shutdown on Christmas. The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will be closed for both its morning and evening trading sessions. Similarly, the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), India’s largest agri-commodity exchange, will not operate on the day.
When Will Trading Resume?
Normal trading activity across equity, currency and commodity markets will resume on Friday, December 26, 2025. Investors and traders are advised to plan their positions and settlements accordingly, especially as the year-end period often sees reduced volumes and limited global market participation.
With Christmas marking a widespread holiday across domestic and international markets, participants should factor in the closure while managing portfolios and upcoming trading strategies.
