Indian markets may have a lower start on Thursday as the GIFT Nifty was down 56 points at 26,180. On the global markets, the S&P 500 and Dow both fell by 0.34% and 0.94%, whereas the Nasdaq had a small gain with an increase of 0.16%. The majority of the Asian indices were down between 0.5-0.9%, with one exception (Kospi), which was up 1.48%.

Steel and Manufacturing Strength

Tata Steel India had record Q3 production of crude steel at 6.34 million metric tons, which was a significant increase both quarter over quarter and year-over-year, mainly driven by Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar operations. In Europe, Tata Steel Netherlands produced 1.68 million metric tons of liquid steel in Q3. NCL Industries increased cement production and dispatches by approximately 5% when compared year over year.

Leadership and Finance Moves 

Meesho has experienced the exit of GM Megha Agarwal, marking the first senior-level departure from the company since its public listing in December. Shriram Finance received strong support from voting advisors for MUFG Bank's $4.4 billion investment, which could amount to a 20% stake and represents the largest foreign direct investment (FDI) in the financial services sector in India.

Tech, Energy, and Pharma Highlights

Infosys collaborates with Cognition to release the Devin AI engineer through the Topaz Fabric, enabling legacy upgrades and expediting coding. CalPERS, the SUN Group, and Authum invested heavily in Inox Green Energy and Inox Solar to support their growth strategies. Eternal (the parent company of Zomato/Blinkit) has a problem with a GST audit and penalty. Gland Pharma received approval from the USFDA for its Olopatadine ophthalmic product line. Medicamen Biotech received EU authorisation for its Paracetamol product through its Danish associate.

Exchange and Auto Updates

The clearing house of MCX received SEBI sanction to promote Rishi Nathany to Managing Director and CEO. Samvardhana Motherson has created a subsidiary named Motherson Egtronics to operate with Korea-based Egtronics Co. Cipla has disclosed their associate Pharmathen received nine observations from the USFDA following a Greek audit conducted Nov 10-21, 2025, which will be publicly released on Jan 7.
Deals and Earnings
TPG is revisiting discussions to secure a 20% investment position in IIFL Capital Services; due diligence continues. Earnings will be released for Elecon Engineering, Transformers and Rectifiers, Eimco Elecon, Toyam Sports, and Yuranus Infrastructure.
