Food delivery platform Swiggy has increased its platform fee per order to ₹17.58 from the earlier rate of ₹14.99, an increase of around 17%, according to data from March 20 accessed by Moneycontrol.

The revised platform fee is applicable and includes GST. This is the fourth increase in the past seven months, reflecting successive increases in customer charges.

Alignment With Zomato Pricing

This is a part of a larger trend of periodic fee increases for both companies. Zomato increased its platform fee to ₹12 in September 2025, according to Moneycontrol's reporting. Swiggy, during that same timeframe, raised its fee to ₹14.

Both platforms now have identical effective pricing, despite differences in how the fee components are structured.

Frequency Of Fee Hikes

This is a part of a larger trend of periodic fee increases for both companies. Zomato had raised its fee on its platform to ₹12 in September 2025, while Swiggy raised its fee to ₹14 in the same period, as reported by Moneycontrol.

Since then, Zomato’s base fee has increased from ₹12.5 to ₹14.9, while Swiggy’s fee has increased from ₹14.99 to ₹17.58.

Scale Of Platform Fee Collections

Food delivery platforms process an estimated 4.3–4.5 million orders daily, according to Moneycontrol. Even small increases in the amount charged per order mean large numbers when orders are processed at scale.

An earlier analysis by Moneycontrol revealed that the fees charged by these platforms in food delivery and e-commerce platforms contribute to a revenue stream of ₹3,500 to ₹4,000 crores annually.

Broader Trend Across Digital Platforms

Platform fees have changed from a nominal charge to a regular source of income for digital businesses. The platform fee started at a ₹2 charge in 2023 and has increased over the years.

This charge is now a regular phenomenon in many businesses such as food delivery, e-commerce, fashion, and ticketing services, among many others.

The latest revision by the company is part of the constant changes in platform fees by leading food delivery companies, with both players now operating at the same price level.
