Stock exchanges Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange will remain open for trading between March 19 and March 21, 2026, as Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, and Eid-ul-Fitr are not listed as trading holidays in the official exchange calendar.

Trading Schedule For March 19–21

According to the holiday calendars released by the exchanges, there are no trading holidays scheduled between March 19 and March 21. Markets will function normally on March 19 and March 20 across segments including equities, derivatives, currency, and commodities.

March 21 will remain a non-trading day only because it falls on a Saturday, which is part of the regular weekly closure.

Festivals During The Period

The festival of Ugadi falls on March 19, which marks the New Year in southern Indian states such as Telangana, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.

Eid-ul-Fitr may be celebrated on March 20 in India, depending on the appearance of the crescent moon. It  is celebrated after the end of the month-long fasting in Ramadan.

Despite these occasions being widely observed, they are not included in the official list of trading holidays notified by the exchanges.

Stock Market Holiday Calendar 2026

Stock exchanges had announced a total of 15 trading holidays for 2026 in their annual calendar.

So far, three trading holidays have been observed this year, including Republic Day, Holi, and a holiday declared for municipal elections in Maharashtra.

In March, additional trading holidays are scheduled later in the month. Markets will remain closed on March 26 on account of Shri Ram Navami and on March 31 for Shri Mahavir Jayanti.

Monthly Holiday Distribution

Beyond March, the exchange calendar includes two trading holidays each in April and May, followed by one holiday in June.

There are no scheduled market holidays in July and August. One holiday each is listed in September and December, while October and November will have two trading holidays each.

Trading activity on March 19 and March 20 will continue as per normal market hours, with no exchange-declared holidays during this period.
