Bank Stocks Dropped Following Q4 Updates; Kotak, IndusInd Top Losers

Shares of banks are trading mostly in negative territory on Monday, April 6, as the banks released their quarterly business updates for Q4FY26. The Nifty Bank index dropped by about 0.9%, while 9 of the 14 stocks fell during the day.

Shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank and IndusInd Bank fell over 2% each. ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank, and IDFC First Bank declined more than 1% each. HDFC Bank, AU Small Finance Bank, and Yes Bank also traded lower during the session.

HDFC Bank, Axis Bank Report Steady Growth

HDFC Bank reported average advances under management of ₹29.64 lakh crore in Q4FY26, up 10% year-on-year (YoY), according to its quarterly update. Gross advances rose 12% YoY to ₹29.60 lakh crore, while period-end deposits increased 14.4% YoY to ₹31.05 lakh crore. The credit-deposit (CD) ratio declined to 95.3% from 99.5% in Q3FY26.

Axis Bank recorded an 18.4% YoY rise in gross advances to ₹12.44 lakh crore. Total deposits grew 13.9% YoY to ₹13.35 lakh crore, while CASA deposits increased 10.6% YoY to ₹5.28 lakh crore, as per its filing.

Yes Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank Show Credit Growth

Yes Bank reported loans and advances growth of 10.70% YoY to ₹2.72 lakh crore in Q4FY26. Deposits rose 12.1% YoY to ₹3.19 lakh crore. Its credit-deposit ratio declined to 85.4% from 86.5% in the previous quarter.

Kotak Mahindra Bank reported a 16.2% YoY increase in net advances to ₹4.95 lakh crore. Deposits rose 14.7% YoY to ₹5.72 lakh crore at the end of the quarter, supported by growth in CASA deposits, according to its update.

PSU, Mid-Sized Banks Report Mixed Trends

Union Bank of India reported continued growth in advances, while its deposit growth remained relatively weaker. The bank’s CD ratio stood at 82.5% in March 2026, compared to 77.3% in March 2025.

Bank of Baroda reported a higher than guided advancement growth rate in the RAM segment, which contributed to better numbers for FY26, with a guidance range of 11-13% year-over-year. Deposit growth remained slightly higher than the industry trend during the quarter.

Bandhan Bank reported advances growth of 12.6% YoY and 6.2% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) to ₹1,54,235 crore. Deposits rose 10% YoY and 6.1% QoQ to ₹1,66,344 crore.

IDFC First Bank reported steady credit growth during the quarter, while deposit growth moderated compared to earlier quarters, according to its business update.

The decline in banking stocks follows the release of operational data by lenders, reflecting varied trends in credit growth and deposit mobilisation across the sector.
