Vedanta In Focus Ahead Of Earnings
Vedanta Ltd will announce its March quarter earnings on Wednesday. Analysts expect the company to report higher profit supported by firm prices of aluminium, zinc and silver on the London Metal Exchange.
Brokerages tracked by Business Standard estimate Vedanta’s adjusted profit after tax could rise as much as 174% year-on-year in Q4 FY26 due to better realisations and operational performance across business segments.
However, rising production costs linked to supply-side pressures are expected to remain a key area of focus for investors.
Maruti Suzuki Reports Lower Profit
Maruti Suzuki India on April 28 reported a 6.4% decline in consolidated net profit to ₹3,659 crore for Q4 FY26 compared with ₹3,911 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
The company said higher commodity costs and mark-to-market impact on debt investments affected profitability during the quarter. Vehicle sales rose 11.8% year-on-year to a record 6,76,209 units during the quarter.
Maruti Suzuki also announced a planned investment of around ₹14,000 crore for FY27 to expand manufacturing operations at its Kharkhoda facility in Haryana and develop a new plant in Khoraj, Gujarat.
Market Cues
GIFT Nifty was hovering around 24,092 on April 29, rising by 23.50 points, or 0.1%, reflecting an unenthusiastic start to trading in Indian stocks.
Asian markets traded mixed as investors tracked reports related to the United Arab Emirates and OPEC. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 and South Korea’s Kospi index declined 0.23% and 0.24%, respectively.
U.S. markets ended lower overnight amid concerns related to technology sector growth and earnings outlook.
