Indian equity benchmarks ended marginally higher on Wednesday, breaking a four-day losing streak. The Sensex rose 50 points, or 0.07%, to close at 74,608.98, while the Nifty 50 added 33 points, or 0.14%, to end at 23,412.60. Broader markets outperformed, with the BSE Midcap index rising 0.71% and the BSE Smallcap index advancing 0.27%.

Gift Nifty was trading near the 23,553 mark in early trade, indicating a positive opening for domestic equities.

Q4 Results To Keep Several Stocks Active

Shares of JSW Steel, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL), Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC), Muthoot Finance, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Vishal Mega Mart are expected to remain active as the companies are scheduled to announce their March quarter earnings on Thursday.

Tata Motors commercial vehicle business reported a standalone net profit of ₹2,406 crore for the quarter ended March 2026, up 70% from ₹1,419 crore reported in the year-ago period.

Bharti Airtel posted a consolidated net profit of ₹7,325 crore for the March quarter, registering a 10.5% sequential increase from ₹6,630 crore in the previous quarter.

Bharti Hexacom reported a 4.6% decline in consolidated net profit for the fourth quarter of FY26. The company posted a profit of ₹446.7 crore compared with ₹468.4 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Zydus Lifesciences, NBCC India In Spotlight

Zydus Lifesciences informed stock exchanges that its board will consider a proposal for the buyback of fully paid-up equity shares at a meeting scheduled on May 19, 2026.

NBCC India announced new work orders worth ₹131.02 crore for projects in Andhra Pradesh and New Delhi, according to an exchange filing.

Zaggle Prepaid Ocean Services reported a consolidated net profit of ₹41 crore in the fourth quarter of FY26, marking a 30.6% rise from ₹31 crore a year earlier. The company attributed the growth to higher revenue and improved operating margins.

Maruti Suzuki, Oil India, Kaynes Technologies

Maruti Suzuki said it has allocated ₹1,372 crore toward developing green logistics infrastructure. The automaker aims to increase the share of vehicle transportation through railways to 35% by 2030-31.

Oil India reported strong standalone performance for the March quarter, supported by higher crude oil production and improved price realisations.

Kaynes Technologies posted a consolidated net profit of ₹91 crore for the fourth quarter, down 22% from ₹116 crore reported in the corresponding period last year.

Investors are also expected to track broader market cues, global developments and additional corporate earnings announcements during Thursday’s trading session.
