The market opened on a bearish note on Wednesday,October 1st, with the Nifty trading down 0.20% at the 22,564 level around 10:53 AM. According to FII/DII data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) remained net sellers, offloading equities worth Rs. 9,616 crore, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) remained net buyers, purchasing equities worth Rs. 9,307 crore.

Fluctuating crude oil prices continue to weigh on market sentiment. Brent Crude hovered around $96/bbl at 10:54 am, with the forecast of $104 for Q4 maintaining pressure on import-dependent emerging markets like India. Furthermore, rising US bond yields and the anticipation of higher interest rates have contributed to a prevailing bearish environment in the markets. 

Despite these market conditions, here are the top gainers and losers in the Nifty 500 index.

Top Gainers for September 30: Transformers and Rectifiers, Welspun Living & Lemon Tree Gain Up to 8.3%

Transformers and Rectifiers gain 8.3%

Transformers and Rectifiers emerged as the top gainer in the Nifty 500 index on October 1, 2026. At 10:15 am,Transformers and Rectifiers share price was trading at ₹292, up 8.3% from its previous close on the NSE.Trading volumes stood at 1.5 crore shares, compared with the 30-day average volume of 20 lakh shares.

Transformers and Rectifiers gained on strong trading volumes, and the Union Cabinet also announced the third phase of the Green Energy Corridor on September 30, boosting interstate energy transmission and leading to an increase in energy-related stocks.

Welspun Living Rises Over 6.5%

Welspun Living share price rose to ₹242 at 10:15 am, gaining 6.5% from its previous close on the NSE.Trading volumes stood at 7 lakh shares, compared with the 30-day average volume of 6.7 lakh shares.The stock has made a 52-week high of ₹244.9
The company announced that its trading window will close on September 30, 2026, ahead of the release of its un-audited financial results for the second quarter and half-year ending September 30, 2026.

Lemon Tree Company gains 5.8%

At 10:15 am, the Lemon Tree Company's share price was trading at ₹111,reflecting a gain of 5.8% from its previous close on the NSE.Trading volumes also remained at 88 lakh shares, compared with the 30-day average volume of 49 lakh shares.
The company announced on September 30 that Lemon Tree has opened Keys Prima by Lemon Tree Hotels in Darjeeling, featuring 65 well-appointed rooms, a multi-cuisine restaurant, a bar, and a fitness center. 

Top Losers for September 30: Bajaj Auto,Ircon International & Escorts Kubota Fall Up to 7%

Bajaj Auto falls Over 7%

At 10:15 am, the Bajaj Auto share price was trading at ₹10,097, down 7% from its previous close on the NSE.Trading volumes currently stand at 4.2 lakh shares, compared with the 30-day average volume of 2.3lakh shares. 
The share price fell by approximately 7% due to poor performance of domestic sales during September. As per the news release made by Bajaj Auto on October 1, 2026, the company saw a fall of 12% in domestic two-wheeler sales compared to the same period last year (from 2,73,188 to 2,39,771 units). 

Ircon International Falls 4.5%

Ircon International emerged as the top loser in the Nifty 500 index on October 1, 2026. At 10:15 am, the share price was trading at ₹111, down 4.5% from its previous close on the NSE. Trading volumes stood at 1.2 crore shares, compared with the 30-day average volume of 48 lakh shares.The stock has seen some routine correction, as Ircon International  rallied over 14% on September 30.

Escorts Kubota Drops 4.4%

Escorts Kubota emerged as the top loser in the Nifty 500 index on October 1, 2026. At 10:15 am, the share price was trading at ₹2,595, down 4.4% from its previous close on the NSE. Trading volumes currently stand at 1.5  lakh shares, compared with the 30-day average volume of 72 thousand shares.

According to the report published by the company, domestic tractor sales in September 2026 stood at 14,911 tractors as against 17,803 tractors in September 2025, marking a decline of 16.2%. Similarly, export tractor sales fell to 303 tractors compared to 464 tractors sold in September 2025, down 34.7%.
