NCDEX and MCX were founded and started trading commodities in 2003. The Forward Markets Commission oversaw both the MCX and the NCDEX until 2016 (FMC). The government resolved to include them under SEBI in the Union Budget of 2016. SEBI has been in charge of the two main commodities exchanges ever since.
