Nifty Sensex Updates March 2: Markets End Sharply Lower Tracking Weak Global Cues

Indian markets closed sharply lower on Monday amid broad-based selling pressure. The Nifty 50 fell 1.24% to 24,865.70, while the Sensex dropped 1.29% to 80,238.85. Bharat Electronics and Hindalco were among the few gainers, whereas IndiGo, Larsen & Toubro, and Adani Ports led the declines. Asian markets were mostly weak, with Japan’s Nikkei down 1.35% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng falling 2.14%, though the Shanghai Composite rose 0.47%. European indices traded firmly lower in mid-session, and U.S. markets were also under pressure, with the Dow down 1.05%, the Nasdaq off 0.92%, and the S&P 500 lower by 0.43%.
