Sensex tanks by 600 points, Nifty below 17,800 level dragged by Bajaj twins. 

The majority of the Asian markets were trading lower. The Nikkei 225 in Japan was flat, while core consumer inflation in Japan climbed in July to its fastest level in seven and a half years, led by rising prices for fuel and raw materials, which raised household costs of living.

The SGX Nifty projected a weak start for India's broader index. The Indian headline indices opened flat and fell sharply due to losses in the finance, banking, and real estate sectors.  

At 12:25 pm, the BSE Sensex plunged 1.10%, reaching a level of 59,635. The Nifty 50 index slipped 1.09% to the 17,760 level. On the Sensex, Larsen and Toubro, Infosys and Tech Mahindra were the top gainers, while IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finserv and Bajaj Finance were the top losers. 

In an otherwise sluggish market, Ultracab India Ltd, Banaras Beads and Eros International Media were the top low-price gainers on the BSE, locking in 20% upper circuit. Medicamen Biotech Ltd was the top gainer in the BSE Smallcap pack, gaining more than 16%.
