NIFTY closed up 1.1% and crossed 24000, driven by a broadbased participation. This is the fifth consecutive day of gains as NIFTY gained more than 7.5% since its recent low. Tech Mahindra (5.1%) and Trent (4.3%) led the charge, while HDFCLIFE and ADANIPORTS lagged were both down more than 1%. Despite the robust rally, there was no dearth of losers as more than 10 stocks ended in the red.

NIFTY built up on last week’s gains. The strong rally continues to be supported by strong buying momentum. FII inflows have also been strong and likely continue to offer support. Today’s rally, too, was technically strong as it gained significantly after a meek opening and closed near the day’s high. That said, the high RSI, warrants caution. The index has experienced profit-booking/corrections during periods of higher RSI. Near term support and resistance levels are 23548/23191 and 24703/25060.

BANKNIFTY saw strong gains and was among the best performing indices. Its 1.8% gain was led by AUBANK (+7.3%) and IDFCFIRSTB (+5.8%). However, after strong weekly gains, ICICIBANK lagged. Overall Positive momentum, but some laggards suggest selective buying. Near term support and resistance levels are 53817/52896 and 56792/57713.

SENSEX gained 1.1% and was inline with NIFTY. This is the fifth day of gains for the index and the highest it has been since early January. TECHM and INDUSINDBK were the top performers with more than 4% gains. On the other hand, ADANIPORTS and HINDUNILVR lost the most at more than 1% each. Near term support and resistance levels are 77471/76272 and 81346/82545

FINNIFTY surged 1.4% and underperformed BANK NIFTY. HDFCAMC was the top gainer and was up 5.7%. NBFCs CHOLAFIN and MUTHOOTFIN gained strongly – more than 4% each. HDFCLIFE and JIOFIN were the only stocks that were down. ADR extremely bullish with 18 of the 20 constituents in green.
