Domestic indices trade higher following strong global cues, LIC surges almost 3%.

In spite of concerns over weak Chinese data that had a negative impact on oil prices and currencies linked to commodities, Asian markets were trading mixed. India's broader index was expected to open with a gap up by the SGX Nifty.

Following the strength in the global markets, India's domestic indices started the day higher. The domestic indices were boosted by BSE Realty and BSE Auto. Kamat Hotels, Alacrity Securities and Vippy Spinpro Ltd were top BSE gainers locked in 20% upper circuits.

At 12:15 pm, the BSE Sensex gained 0.52%, reaching a level of 59,769.03. The Nifty 50 index added 0.55% to 17,795.80 level. On the Sensex, Maruti Suzuki, Asian Paints and Hindustan Unilever Ltd were the top gainers, while State Bank of India, Bharti Airtel and Tech Mahindra were the top losers.

Shares of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) surged almost 3% after the company reported a net profit of Rs 682.9 crore for the quarter that ended in June. This is a significant rise from the company's net profit of just Rs 2.6 crore during the same period last year.
