Domestic indices maintain their gains, with Larsen and Toubro leading the way. 

Asian markets climbed on Friday as recession fears faded, and there was rising hope that Joe Biden could lift some Trump-era tariffs on Chinese goods. On the other side, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided and announced that the India division of the leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has shifted nearly half of its total revenue out of the country. The investigating agency identified a total of 23 Vivo India-related companies that were involved in sending large sums to the cellphone manufacturer.

SGX Nifty indicated a positive opening for the broader index in India with a gain of 101 points. At 12:30 pm, the Nifty 50 was trading at the 16,194.65 level, rising by 0.38%. On the Nifty 50 index, the top gainers were Larsen and Toubro, Coal India and NTPC Ltd whereas HDFC Life Insurance Company, Maruti Suzuki and IndusInd Bank were the top losers of the session.

Sensex was trading at a level of 54,409.04, gained by 0.43%. The top gainers were Larsen and Toubro, NTPC Ltd and Axis Bank whereas Maruti Suzuki, Tata Steel and IndusInd Bank were the market draggers.

On the sectoral front, all sectors were trading sideways today, with BSE Capital Goods being the top gainer with gains of about 2%. In other developments, Bitcoin is on track for its highest weekly gain since October of last year, with a weekly rise of more than 13%.
