HDFC Bank share price fell more than 4% in early trade on Monday, July 20, after the private sector lender reported June-quarter earnings that were below the estimates cited in the reference data. The stock declined 4.29% to ₹784.45, compared with Friday’s closing price of ₹819.60.

Profit, Net Interest Income Below Estimates

HDFC Bank reported standalone net profit of ₹19,059.72 crore for the April-June quarter, an increase of 4.98% from ₹18,155.2 crore a year earlier. The figure, however, was below the cited estimate of ₹19,332 crore.

Net interest income rose 6.7% year-on-year to ₹33,535.95 crore from ₹31,438 crore. This was also below the cited estimate of ₹34,353 crore.

The bank’s net interest margin stood at 3.26% on total assets during the quarter. As of June 30, 2026, gross non-performing assets stood at 1.17%, while net NPAs were at 0.41%.

Asset Quality Remains In Focus

The quarterly numbers came against the backdrop of a prolonged decline in the HDFC Bank share price. The stock had fallen 17.2% in 2026 through Friday’s close, compared with a 6.9% decline in the Nifty 50 during the same period.

HDFC Bank’s market capitalisation stood at more than ₹12.64 lakh crore based on the reference data.

The latest decline has placed the HDFC Bank share price under renewed focus as investors assess the lender’s earnings growth, net interest income and asset-quality indicators following the June-quarter results.

Stock Movement After Results

The stock had gained 1.4% on Friday to close at ₹819.60 ahead of the earnings announcement. The subsequent fall in Monday’s session came after the bank reported year-on-year growth in net profit and net interest income, but both figures remained below the cited estimates.

With the June-quarter results now announced, the HDFC Bank share price is likely to remain closely linked to the market’s assessment of the lender’s earnings performance, margin trend and asset quality in the months ahead.
