Jio Platforms started trading separately on October 28, 2026. At close on Wednesday, the new telecom and digital services entity is worth Rs 13.1 lakh crores. That’s separate from the larger listed Reliance Industries entity, worth Rs 15.7 lakh crores in market capitalisation. Reliance still holds about two-thirds of Jio Platforms.

Jio closed at ₹1,419 as Reliance Industries retained the larger market value

On the first day of its stock market listing, a Jio Platforms share was trading at ₹1,419 in the late session on Wednesday, as per market close data. It was 26.8% above the issue price of ₹1,119.

Reliance Industries is at ₹15.7 lakh crore and Jio Platforms at ₹13.1 lakh crore as per the same data at Wednesday’s close.

Jio Platforms has moved ahead of Bharti Airtel and is now India’s most valuable telecom company by market-capitalisation.

Jio Platforms raised ₹30,213 crore before its independent listing

Jio Platforms listed at ₹1,358 a share against an IPO issue price of ₹1,119, according to the company’s listing data. The listing price represented a 21.35% difference from the issue price.

The IPO raised ₹30,213 crore and received subscriptions exceeding 22 times, according to Jio Platforms’ IPO data.

Combined demand from the public issue and anchor placement exceeded ₹7.4 lakh crore. The issue received more than 1.3 crore applications, the same data showed.

Reliance Industries still holds about two-thirds of Jio Platforms

Reliance Industries Ltd trades separately on stock exchanges from Jio Platforms, enabling Jio’s telecom and digital services to command a stock exchange-determined market price from the listing of Jio Platforms on stock exchanges.

Reliance Industries Limited still holds around two-thirds of Jio Platforms. Therefore market capitalisations of two companies should not be treated as two separate additions to group’s value based on shareholding details.

Reliance Industries retains businesses across retail, oil-to-chemicals and new energy, in addition to its holding in Jio Platforms. Jio Platforms is focused on telecom and digital services.

Jio moved from Reliance Industries’ portfolio to a separately traded company

Prior to listing on public markets, Jio Platforms formed part of the portfolio of Reliance Industries and did not have a separate traded market value as disclosed in the listing document.

Public shareholders held 49.56% of Reliance Industries as of September 2026. Public shareholding in Jio Platforms stood at 35.52% after the IPO, according to the September 2026 shareholding data.
