Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has delivered the last two twin-seater LCA Tejas FOC aircraft to the Indian Air Force under its original order of 40 Tejas Mk-1 aircraft.

The company along with deliveries of aircraft in Bengaluru also delivered the HTT-40 Basic Trainer Aircraft to the Indian Air Force as well as Dhruv Next Generation helicopters to Pawan Hans.

HAL stocks witnessed an almost 2% rise during the day session on September 18. As per data from the NSE, the company's stock price was trading at ₹4,876 at 2 pm, up ₹88 or 1.84% from the previous close.

Focus shifts to Tejas Mk-1A deliveries

With the original Mk-1 order completed, attention now turns to HAL’s pending Tejas Mk-1A programme.

The company expects deliveries of the LCA Mk-1A to the Indian Air Force to begin by the end of the year, though work on some remaining issues is still underway. These include radar, weapons and software integration, with the aircraft undergoing final corrections and further testing.

HAL has so far produced 27 Tejas Mk-1A airframes out of the 180 aircraft ordered, according to the report. Additional testing is required for the AESA radar and missile integration.

The 180-aircraft pipeline consists of two separate orders. The first covers 83 Tejas Mk-1A aircraft ordered in February 2021 for around ₹48,000 crore. Another 97 aircraft were ordered in September 2025 for ₹62,370 crore.

Original Tejas order completed

The two twin-seat LCA FOC trainers delivered by HAL complete the Indian Air Force’s original order for 40 Mk-1 aircraft. That order was placed in two tranches, in March 2006 and December 2010.

HAL’s HTT-40 deliveries, meanwhile, are part of a ₹6,838-crore contract signed in March 2023 for 70 aircraft.

The next phase will centre on the Mk-1A programme, where testing and the resolution of the remaining integration issues will determine when deliveries can begin.
