List of top 5 gainers and losers in the midcap and smallcap segment for the week from October 14 to 20, 2022.

Festive jubilations, pent-up demand along with positive Q2 and half-yearly corporate financial results kept the D-Street abuzz. The frontline index S&P BSE Sensex gained 3.44% or 1968 points during the week and closed at 59,202.9 on October 20, 2022.

The broader market also regaled during the week with S&P BSE Mid Cap closing up by 1.02% at 24,993.32. The S&P BSE Smallcap also ended at 28,738.71 gaining 0.76%.

The biggest gainer in the mid-cap segment for the week was Suzlon Energy Ltd. Shares of the company rose by 32.84% for the week from the levels of Rs 6.7 to Rs 8.9. Suzlon Energy, one of India’s leading renewable energy solution providers, announced a new order win for the development of a 48.3 MW wind power project for Adani Green Energy Ltd. Suzlon will install 23 units of their wind turbine generators (WTGs) with a Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) tower and a rated capacity of 2.1 MW each. The project is located in Mandvi, Kutch, Gujarat and is expected to be commissioned in 2023.

From its 52-week high of Rs 122.88, the stock is currently trading at a massive discount of 70%.

As S&P BSE Financials witnessed a strong momentum this week rising 1.66% at 59202.90, the constituent stocks witnessed a positive rally. In the small cap space, Paisalo led the financial sector gainers.

The losers of smallcap space were led by Thangamayil Jewllery Ltd. The shares of this jeweller in retail space fell from Rs 1264.3 to Rs 1085.7 registering a loss of 14.13 % in the stock price. The company reported Q2FY23 on October 17, wherein net revenue grew by 15.45% on a YoY basis at Rs 813.15 crore. However, PAT fell by 40% YoY and came in at Rs 15.95 crore.
