Coal India share price finished November 2 at ₹408, a gain of 4.88% from the previous close of ₹389. The stock opened at ₹398, moved down to ₹395 and then advanced to ₹408. The closing price matched the displayed session high, leaving the share ₹13 above its intraday low. Volume reached 13,262,787 shares.

The day's opening price was already ₹9 above the previous close, and the final price added another ₹10 from the open. Coal India therefore retained the session's advance through the close rather than giving back the intraday gain.

Even after the 4.88% rise, the stock remained below its moving averages. The 50-day DMA was ₹412.50, only ₹4.50 above the close. The 100-day DMA stood at ₹419.40, creating an ₹11.40 gap. The 200-day DMA was ₹421.90, which was ₹13.90 above the final price. The closing level was therefore nearest to the 50-day average.

The 52-week range extended from ₹370 to ₹491. At ₹408, Coal India stood ₹38 above the annual low and ₹83 below the annual high. Its position remained closer to the lower end of that band despite the strong daily move.

Returns over longer periods showed contrasting results. The one-month return was -2.95%, while three months showed -1.48%. Six-month performance was considerably weaker at -15.26%. The one-year return, however, was positive at 4.98%. That means the 12-month figure remained above zero even though each of the shorter displayed intervals was negative.

November 2 was one of the stronger daily moves within the Nifty 50 batch. Coal India gained nearly 5%, closed at the day's high and traded more than 13.2 million shares, although its price remained below all three key DMAs.
