Nifty Trade Setup for October 14: Nifty Jumps 1.60%, Can the Rally Extend Above 22,700?
Last Updated: 13th October 2026 - 06:38 pm
Nifty 50 staged a strong recovery on October 13, rising 358.60 points, or 1.60%, to close at 22,721.95. The index opened at 22,361.15, touched a low of 22,221.95 and reached a high of 22,788.45 on the daily chart. The rebound pushed Nifty above its short-term moving averages, improving the near-term outlook after the recent decline. However, the index remains below several longer-term EMAs, making the upcoming resistance levels important for confirming whether the recovery can continue.
Market Breadth: Bulls Take Control as 46 Stocks Advance
Market breadth turned decisively positive, with 46 stocks advancing and only 4 declining in the Nifty 50 index. Nifty IT, Digital India and Realty were the leading sectors, reflecting broad-based buying interest. The strong participation suggests that Tuesday’s recovery was not limited to a few heavyweight stocks. If buying interest continues in these sectors, it could help Nifty sustain its rebound. However, traders should watch for selling pressure as the index approaches the next resistance zone.
Nifty Technical Setup: Rebound Improves the Short-Term Outlook
Nifty50 moved above its short-term EMA near 22,608.80 on the daily chart, signalling an improvement in near-term momentum. The next hurdle is the EMA near 22,875.54, followed by resistance at 23,076.90. On the hourly chart, the index has recovered above several short-term moving averages but is approaching resistance around 22,727.25. A sustained move above this level could strengthen the recovery, while a fall below 22,600 may bring renewed selling pressure.

RSI and Momentum Indicators: Short-Term Strength Builds
The daily RSI improved to 43.43, indicating that selling momentum is easing, although the indicator remains below the neutral 50 mark. The hourly RSI at 65.18 reflects stronger buying momentum, while the 15-minute RSI at 79.37 suggests that the intraday rally has become stretched. This combination supports the recovery but also raises the possibility of short-term profit booking. Traders should watch whether Nifty consolidates above 22,600 before attempting another move higher.
Key Levels to Track for Nifty on October 14
Nifty’s rebound has improved the near-term outlook, supported by strong market breadth and stronger hourly momentum. A sustained move above 22,875 could open the way towards 23,076.90. However, the daily RSI remains below 50 and the index is still below its longer-term EMAs, so the broader trend has not yet fully turned positive. A move back below 22,600 would weaken the recovery and bring the 22,221.85 support zone back into focus.
