Karnataka Bank Services May Be Hit on September 11 as Employee Unions Plan One-Day Strike
Last Updated: 11th September 2026 - 04:09 pm
Customers of Karnataka Bank may face disruptions at some branches and offices on September 11 as employee and officer unions prepare for a one-day strike.
The action has been called by the All India Karnataka Bank Employees Association (AIKBEA) and the Karnataka Bank Officers Organisation (KBOO), with a five-day banking week among their key demands. The unions have also raised a number of residual and pending issues.
Karnataka Bank is making arrangements to keep its branches, offices and departments functioning during the day, though the extent of any disruption will depend on participation in the strike.
Five-Day Banking Week at the Centre of Strike Call
AIKBEA is affiliated to the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) while KBOO is affiliated to the All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA). The September 11 strike call has been issued under the aegis of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU).
Apart from seeking a five-day banking week, the unions want outstanding and pending issues to be resolved. Karnataka Bank’s September 10 update does not elaborate on those matters.
The proposed action is limited to one day. Whether it translates into widespread disruption across the bank’s network will become clearer once the strike gets underway.
Bank Looks to Keep Operations Running
Karnataka Bank is preparing to maintain regular services across its branches, offices and departments despite the strike call. It has not provided details of the arrangements being made.
There is also no estimate yet of the financial impact. The bank said any potential loss or damage, along with the broader effect on its operations, cannot be quantified at this stage.
The lender notified the BSE and National Stock Exchange about the strike on September 10, giving customers and other stakeholders advance notice of the possibility of service interruptions the following day.
