HCL Technologies share price rose more than 4% in early trade on Friday after the IT services company announced a strategic contract valued at approximately $1.14 billion with a Europe-headquartered Fortune Global 50 company. The agreement focuses on building and managing an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled operating model for the client’s digital workplace and enterprise network services.

The stock advanced as much as 4.5% to ₹1,126.50 during the session, making it the biggest gainer on the Nifty 50. Despite Friday’s gains, HCL Technologies share price remains about 31.3% lower in 2026 so far, compared with a decline of around 7% in the Nifty 50 during the same period. The company’s market capitalisation stands at nearly ₹3.05 lakh crore.

Multi-Year AI Engagement

According to the company’s exchange filing, the agreement has been signed with an unnamed Europe-based Fortune Global 50 company. HCL Technologies said the engagement will help establish an AI-driven operating model designed to modernise and manage the client’s global digital workplace and enterprise network infrastructure.

The contract will run from July 2026 through December 2031. The agreement also includes an option to extend the partnership for an additional five years. HCL Technologies stated that the estimated contract value during the initial tenure is about $1.14 billion and classified it as a new business win.

The announcement comes as AI-led transformation projects continue to remain an important area of technology spending for large enterprises. Such contracts are being closely monitored by investors as they provide visibility into long-term revenue opportunities for IT services companies. The latest announcement also supported HCL Technologies share price during Friday’s session.

IT Stocks Gain Momentum

The broader information technology pack also traded higher after the announcement. The Nifty IT index rose around 1.9%, outperforming other sectoral indices during early trade.

At around 9:18 am, the Sensex was trading 411.02 points, or 0.53%, higher at 77,913.14, while the Nifty 50 gained 135.10 points, or 0.56%, to 24,310.80. India VIX declined about 1.6%, indicating lower market volatility.

The latest contract adds another large deal to HCL Technologies’ order pipeline and comes at a time when companies across industries are increasing investments in AI-enabled digital transformation initiatives. Investors will also watch upcoming quarterly earnings for updates on deal execution and the company’s overall order book.
