Indices trade strong, sugar stocks are down, whereas IT surged.

US markets ended sharply higher on Thursday as investors were looking forward to a key jobs report due on Friday. Nasdaq surged about 2.69% while Dow Jones gained around 1.33%.

Stocks in Asian markets too rose in Friday morning trade following gains overnight on Wall Street. All the major indices were trading in the green territory except Hong Kong’s Hang Seng and Taiwan’s TSEC 50 Index. The Statistics Korea data showed that South Korea’s consumer inflation is near 14 year high amid the global surge in inflation.

SGX Nifty indicated a gap up opening with a gain of 196 points. Expectedly, In India, the market strength was good as 1,818 equities increased on the BSE, whereas 1,298 declined, and 139 shares remained unchanged. Around 210 stocks are locked in the upper circuit, whereas 130 were in their lower circuit.

At 11:45 am, Indian benchmark indicator Sensex was trading at a level of 56,361.96, up by 0.97%. The top gainers of Sensex were Reliance Industries, Infosys and Wipro Ltd. BSE Midcap index was trading at a level of 23,072.57, which fell by 0.17%. BSE Smallcap index was trading at 26,739.57, advanced by 0.17%. The Nifty 50 was trading at 16,755.40, climbing by 0.77%. The top-performing companies were Reliance Industries, Infosys Ltd and Wipro Ltd.

Of the 19 BSE sectoral indices, 9 rose, led by BSE IT (up by 1.80%), followed by a 1.49% gain in BSE Teck.
