The frontline equity indices i.e, Sensex and Nifty 50 were up, owing to the anticipation of the Union Budget announcement. The Sensex is trading at 58,856.64, up by 842.47 points and the Nifty was up by 236.05 points at 17,575.90 levels, respectively.

The top five gainers of Nifty 50 were Britannia Industries, Sun Pharmaceuticals, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank, and HDFC Life Insurance. Whereas, the top stocks pulling down the index are Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra), HPCL, Tata Motors, ONGC, and Bajaj Auto.

BSE Midcap index is trading at a level of 24,801.37 up by 0.77%. The top three gainers of the index include Oberoi Realty, Aditya Birla Capital, and Cholamandalam Investment and Fin Co. Each of these scrips was up by more than 3%. The top three stocks dragging the index include Oil India, Ashok Leyland, and PI Industries.

BSE Smallcap index is trading at 29,473.39, up by 0.84%. The top three gainers are Andhra Paper, Shipping Corporation of India, and West Coast Paper Mills. Each of these stocks gained more than 10%. The top three stocks pulling the index down include Venus Remedies, Subex, and IFB Agro Industries.

All the sectoral indices on the BSE were seen trading in the green, with BSE Realty and BSE Private Bank leading the way and were up by more than 2%. BSE Oil and Gas and BSE Telecom are showing a bearish trend just before the Union Budget announcement.
