Google-Backed Pixxel Raises $100 Million in Record Funding Round for Indian Space Tech
Last Updated: 9th September 2026 - 03:12 pm
Indian space technology startup Pixxel has raised $100 million in fresh funding, giving the company more capital to build out its satellite network and Earth intelligence platform.
The Series C round is the largest single funding round by an Indian space technology company. Singapore state investor Temasek and British space-focused venture firm Seraphim led the investment.
Pixxel’s existing investors Radical Ventures and growX Ventures also participated, while 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment joined as new backers.
With the latest capital infusion, Pixxel has now raised $195 million in total.
From Hyperspectral Satellites to a Broader Space Platform
Pixxel, which counts Google among its backers, was founded by Awais Ahmed and began its journey with hyperspectral satellites.
Unlike conventional satellite imagery, hyperspectral technology is designed to capture more detailed information about the Earth’s surface.
The company has since widened its ambitions. Alongside its satellites, Pixxel has built Aurora, an Earth intelligence software platform, while also developing satellite systems for commercial customers and sovereign space missions.
The broader idea is to bring these pieces together — satellites collecting information from space, software processing that information and systems that can turn Earth observation data into useful intelligence for governments, businesses and institutions.
Where Will the Fresh $100 Million Go?
Pixxel plans to put the new funding behind both its satellite and software capabilities.
Part of the capital will go towards expanding its Honeybee satellite constellation as well as high-resolution optical imaging satellites. The company also plans to continue developing Aurora so that information collected from different datasets can be brought together and turned into decision-ready insights.
The funding gives Pixxel more room to expand on both sides of its business: gathering more detailed information from space and building the software needed to make that information usable on the ground.
For the Indian space startup, the $100 million Series C takes total funding to $195 million and marks its biggest capital raise so far.
