The headline indices Sensex and Nifty 50 were seen trading at 55,631 and 16,562 levels, respectively with the Sensex down by 1377 points or 2.42% and Nifty down by 415 points or 2.45%. Market sentiments continue to be sour following the interest rate hike announcement by the FED and the corresponding currency depreciation.

At noon on Monday, the headline indices Sensex and Nifty 50 were seen trading at 55,631 and 16,562 levels, respectively with the Sensex down by 1377 points or 2.42% and Nifty down by 415 points or 2.45%.

The sole gainers of Sensex were Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd and Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL). Whereas, the top 5 losers were Bajaj Finance Ltd, IndusInd Bank, Tata Steel Ltd, SBI, and NTPC Ltd.

The Nifty Midcap 100 index is trading at 28,798 and is down by 3.81%. The top 3 gainers of the index were Alembic Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Ajanta Pharmaceuticals Ltd, and Escorts Ltd. Each of these stocks was up by 0.6%. Similarly, the top 3 stocks dragging the index include AU Small Finance Bank, Shriram Transport Ltd, and L&T technology Ltd.

The Nifty Smallcap 100 index is trading at 10,448, down by 3.69%. Only Future Retail Ltd and IRD Infrastructures are trading in the green. Future Retail Ltd was up by 20%. Similarly, the top 3 stocks dragging the index were Firstsource Solutions Ltd, Dilip Buildcon Ltd, and Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) Ltd.

Taking cues from global indices, all the sectoral indices on the Nifty are trading in the red. Most of the sectors are down by 3-4%. Market sentiments continue to be sour following the interest rate hike announcement by the FED and the corresponding currency depreciation.
