On January 07, the Indian equity market closed up on a positive note. BSE Basic Material is the top gainer whereas, BSE Capital Goods was the top loser.

On the last trading day of the week, Indian equity market closed on a positive note. Besides, majority of sectoral indices closed with a green mark.

In today’s trade Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex indices closed up by 66.80 points i.e., 0.38% and 142.80 points i.e., 0.24%, respectively. Stocks that supported BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 to pull the index up were Reliance Industries Ltd, ICICI Bank Ltd, HDFC Bank Ltd and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. Whereas stocks that dragged BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 down were Bajaj Finance Ltd, HDFC Ltd, Bajaj Finserv Ltd, Larsen & Toubro Ltd and Titan Company Ltd. Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex opened up by 0.29% and 0.29% respectively from the previous close.

In Friday's trading session S&P BSE Basic Materials, S&P BSE Oil & Gas, S&P BSE Enhanced Value Index and S&P BSE Energy were top gainers. BSE Basic Materials index consisting of stocks such as India Cements Ltd, Tata Steel Long Products Ltd, Ashapura Minechem Ltd, Gujarat Sidhee Cement Ltd and Valiant Organics Ltd were the top gainers.

Today S&P BSE Capital Goods, S&P BSE Telecom, S&P BSE Consumer Durable and S&P BSE Healthcare index were top losers. BSE Capital Goods index consisting of stocks such as GMR Infrastructure Ltd, ELGI Equipments Ltd, Grindwell Norton Ltd, Bharat Electronics Ltd and Carborundum Universal Ltd were the top losers.
