Today NIFTY OIL & GAS is the best performing index while NIFTY AUTO is the worst performer.

After showing a promising start, Nifty 50 closed in red for the second consecutive day in today's trade with a fall of 107.9 points. It opened at 16723.12 against the previous close of 16605.95, which means a gap up of 117.25 points.

In today’s trade, the best performing index is NIFTY OIL & GAS it was up by 1.46%. This is followed by NIFTY IT, which is up by 1.22% as depreciating currency will help them. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY AUTO. It is down by 2.28%. Out of the total 15.0 companies forming part of the index, 13.0 companies closed in red, and 1.0 closed in green.

Companies that supported Nifty 50 in today’s trade were 'Infosys', 'ITC', 'HCL Tech', 'JSW Steel' and 'ONGC' together they contributed around 28.48 points gain in the index. While the companies that dragged the index were ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Asian Paints, HDFC Life and Bajaj Finserve. These companies contributed around 58.64 points towards the fall of Nifty 50.

The overall market today was in favour of decline. At close advance to decline ratio stood at 225:260.
