On Monday, the major equity indices posted good gains. The Nifty reached a closing level above 17,900. Real estate, media, and information technology companies saw the biggest gains among the NSE's sectors indices. The top gainers were Adani Ports, Titan, and Tech Mahindra, while the top losers included Coal India, Shree Cements, and Nestle Indian.

The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, increased 321.99 points or 0.54% to 60,115.13 levels. The Nifty 50 index increased by 103 points or 0.58% to reach 17,936.35 levels. The Sensex has increased 1.84% in three days, while the Nifty has increased 1.77%. Benchmark indexes underperformed the overall market. While the S&P BSE Small-Cap index increased by 1%, the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index increased by 0.89%. Market breadth was positive as 2,193 shares increased and 1,391 shares decreased on the BSE and 175 shares remained unchanged overall. 

The US stock market is expected to open up today, according to the Dow Jones futures, which were up 144 points. Following the increased risk appetite, shares in both Europe and Asia rose on Monday. The August data set will be announced on Tuesday, and the world's financial markets are preparing for the most recent estimate of American inflation. 

The yield on the benchmark 10-year federal paper for India increased to 7.1669 from 7.135 at the close of the previous trading session. The rupee strengthened versus the dollar on the foreign currency market. The rupee was trading at 79.57, slightly down from the previous trading session's finish of 79.69. The 5 October 2022 settlement price for MCX Gold futures increased by 0.56% to Rs 50,640. 

The US Dollar index (DXY), which measures how the dollar compares to a selection of currencies, dropped 1.07% to 108.53. Brent crude for November 2022 settlement increased by $1.51 or 1.69% to $90.66 a barrel on the commodities market.
