Vodafone Idea shares rise over 4%, extend one-month gain to 21%

Vodafone Idea shares rose more than 4% on Monday, September 7, extending their gain over the past month to more than 21%.

The telecom stock opened at ₹15.09 on the NSE, compared with its previous close of ₹15.02 on Friday, according to Mint. Vodafone Idea’s market capitalisation stood at ₹1,68,040 crore at 10 am.

Stock extends gains

Vodafone Idea shares have gained 6.31% over the past week and 21.57% in one month, as per Mint data.

The stock has risen 54% in six months and 114% over the past year. Its three-year and five-year gains stood at 48% and 87%, respectively, according to the same report.

Vi refreshes brand identity

Vodafone Idea unveiled a refreshed brand identity in an exchange filing dated September 1.

The company has turned its signature visual particle into a three-dimensional sphere and moved it to the top of the logo. Vi said the revised design reflects the company’s optimism and future plans.

Vodafone Idea has also named actor Shah Rukh Khan as the face of its upcoming “Vi badal raha hai... tayaar rahiye” campaign.

The company said the campaign would be followed by strategic launches, new advertising and customer experiences over the coming weeks.

AGR relief supports sentiment

Vodafone Idea’s recent gains also follow a reduction in its adjusted gross revenue liabilities.

The government reassessed the company’s AGR dues at ₹64,000 crore, down from ₹87,700 crore, Business Standard reported in May. The company subsequently revised the net present value of its AGR obligations to ₹24,900 crore.

The relief reduced immediate financial pressure and strengthened Vodafone Idea’s ability to seek funding for network expansion.

Vodafone Idea requires more than ₹1 lakh crore over three years, including ₹45,000 crore for capital expenditure and ₹49,000 crore for spectrum payments, according to estimates from ICICI Securities cited by Business Standard.

Network funding remains in focus

Vodafone Idea plans to repay nearly ₹49,000 crore in spectrum dues over three years, The Economic Times reported. The proposed payments include about ₹7,000 crore in FY27, ₹15,000 crore in FY28 and ₹27,000 crore in FY29.

The telecom operator expects to meet these obligations through higher operating earnings, internal cash generation and fresh bank funding. It is also pursuing a ₹45,000-crore network expansion plan, according to the report.
