Why These Stocks Are Rising and Falling Today: Syrma SGS Technology, Tega Industries & HBL Engineering Gain; Afcons Infrastructure, PB Fintech & ACME Solar Decline
Last Updated: 17th September 2026 - 01:07 pm
Indian benchmark indices, the Sensex and Nifty 50, opened higher in early trading as investors tracked global cues and key domestic developments. Market sentiment remained cautious, however, with foreign investors continuing to sell Indian equities.
The US Federal Reserve raised its policy rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4%, marking its first rate hike in three years. The move has raised expectations of further monetary tightening, which could support the US dollar and influence foreign investment flows into emerging markets such as India.
Meanwhile, the much-awaited ₹22,569-crore Initial Public Offering (IPO) of the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) opened for subscription. The NSE IPO is expected to remain a key focus for investors during the trading session.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) remained cautious, selling equities worth ₹2,032.61 crore on Wednesday. At the same time, a slight pullback in Brent crude oil prices offered some relief to Indian markets. However, elevated US interest rates and a stronger dollar remain key factors for investors to track.
