The 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) has extended the last date for stakeholders to submit memorandums and recommendations to June 15, 2026. The move gives central government employees, pensioners, service associations and government departments more time to present their views before the commission finalises its recommendations.
The latest extension follows an earlier revision of the deadline to May 31. The memorandum submission process began on March 5, 2026, with the original deadline set for April 30.
The commission, headed by former Supreme Court Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, was constituted to review the salary structure, allowances, pension benefits and related service conditions of central government employees and retirees. The panel also includes former IAS officer Pankaj Jain as Member-Secretary and Professor Pulak Ghosh, a member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, as a member.
Around 1.15 Crore Beneficiaries To Be Covered
The recommendations of the 8th CPC are expected to affect nearly 50 lakh central government employees, including defence personnel, and about 65 lakh pensioners, including retired defence staff.
The commission has invited representations from a wide range of stakeholders. These include central government employees, All India Services personnel, defence forces, Union Territory administrations, regulatory bodies established through Acts of Parliament, judicial employees, pensioners, service associations, ministries and government departments.
Online Submission Process
The commission has directed stakeholders to submit their memorandums through its online portal. Individuals can file suggestions through the official 8th CPC website by selecting the appropriate category, completing OTP verification and filling in details related to pay revision, fitment factor, allowances, pension structure and changes to the pay matrix.
The commission stated in its notice that hard copies, physical submissions, emails and PDF documents may not be considered during the review process. Upon successful submission, applicants receive a Unique Memo ID that can be used for future reference.
Consultation Meetings Scheduled Across States
Alongside the memorandum process, the commission is continuing consultations with employee representatives and stakeholder groups in different regions.
Meetings in Srinagar are scheduled from June 1 to June 4, while discussions in Ladakh are planned for June 8. The commission will hold consultations in Lucknow on June 22 and June 23.
Further meetings have been scheduled in Bhubaneswar on July 6 and July 7, followed by consultations in Kolkata on July 9 and July 10. Appointment requests for these meetings must be submitted within the timelines prescribed by the commission.
The panel has also indicated that additional stakeholder interactions will be organised in other cities of Uttar Pradesh, Visakhapatnam and several other states and Union Territories. As the consultation phase progresses, the feedback collected through memorandums and meetings is expected to form a key part of the commission’s review of pay, allowances and pension-related structures for central government employees and retirees.
