Godrej Industries Group on Tuesday announced its entry into the wealth management segment with the launch of Godrej Wealth, a new financial services platform focused on affluent and high-net-worth individuals. The company has set a target of achieving ₹1 lakh crore in assets under management (AUM) by 2031.
The new venture will operate alongside Godrej Capital, the group’s lending business, and forms part of the company’s broader financial services strategy.
Focus On High-Net-Worth Clients
Godrej Wealth will mainly cater to individuals with investible assets of ₹2 crore or more. This platform will cater to entrepreneurs, family businesses, NRIs, and other affluent investors who want professional wealth management services.
The offerings of this wealth management platform will consist of investment advisory, portfolio construction, succession planning, private markets investments, and global product investments.
The company said the platform is designed to address the growing demand for comprehensive wealth management solutions as financial assets become a larger component of household wealth.
Expansion Across India
As part of its growth roadmap, Godrej Wealth plans to establish a presence in 35 locations over the next five years. The strategy aims at enhancing the company's position across important wealth centers and emerging markets in India.
The company plans to deliver both technology-driven services along with relational advice to cater to various financial needs of its clients.
India’s wealth management market has grown considerably over the last few years due to higher incomes, greater involvement in financial markets, and the presence of a large number of high net worth individuals.
Part Of Broader Financial Services Strategy
This development represents another step in the expansion of the Godrej group’s wealth management capabilities, beyond financing.
By incorporating wealth management into their services, Godrej hopes to take advantage of the rising financialization of savings and the need for professionally managed investments.
This venture will cover aspects ranging from wealth creation, wealth protection, to the transition of assets to succeeding generations, all areas which are gaining importance with the advancement of wealth management practices amongst families.
As Godrej aims to build a national footprint, while targeting AUMs of ₹1 lakh crore by 2031, it joins a competitive landscape which has seen increased participation from various banks and financial organizations.
This is in line with the larger trend of financial service providers diversifying into areas such as wealth management, to meet the demands of the country’s wealthy and affluent investor segment.
