Indian stock markets will remain closed on April 14 on account of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti, with trading suspended across all segments, according to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

There will be no trading in equities, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing segments for the day, as per official exchange holiday schedules.

Trading Holiday Across Segments

Trading holidays in the NSE and BSE calendars for 2026 have included April 14. All market operations in the cash and derivatives segments will remain closed throughout the day. Trading will resume on April 15 as per normal market hours.

MCX Trading Timings

At MCX  of India, the trading shall be shut down during the morning period from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for all segments of the commodities, including bullion and base metals.

Nevertheless, trading on the exchange will resume for the evening period starting from 5:00 PM, following its holiday calendar.

Bank Holiday In Multiple States

Banks will also remain closed in several states on April 14 due to Ambedkar Jayanti. According to the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar, banking services will not be available in states including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal, and others.

This festival is celebrated in commemoration of the birthday of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, who designed the constitution of India.

2026 Market Holiday Calendar

April 14 is among the listed trading holidays for 2026. Other key market holidays include Republic Day on January 26, Holi on March 3, Good Friday on April 3, Maharashtra Day on May 1, and Diwali-Balipratipada on November 10, according to exchange data.

With markets closed for the day, trading activity across equity segments will pause, while commodity markets will partially operate in the evening session as per MCX norms.
