Top performing mid-cap funds in past one year; do you hold them?
In last one year, although S&P BSE Mid Cap index delivered positive returns, they were on the lower end. However, there were a lot of funds that delivered double-digit positive returns. Read on to learn more about them.
In last one-year, Indian stock markets outperformed the prominent global indices. S&P BSE Sensex registered returns of 5.84% in last one year, while S&P BSE Mid Cap index and S&P BSE Small Cap index delivered 3.43% and 3.4%, respectively. However, the performance of S&P BSE Sensex was slightly lower than the interest rate offered by bank fixed deposit, while S&P BSE Mid Cap index and S&P BSE Small Cap index were even lower.
Having said that, when it comes to mid-cap mutual funds, out of 25 mid-cap funds, 24 funds outperformed S&P BSE MidCap index. In fact, out of those 25 funds, 14 funds delivered double-digit returns.

As can be seen in the above table, mid-cap mutual funds on an average have performed mostly in line with Nifty Mid-Cap 150 Total Returns Index (TRI). However, during tough times, mid-cap funds have fell less than its benchmark. This is evident from the Year-Till-Date (YTD) returns calculated for the period from January 2, 2023 to February 24, 2023.
