Indian equity markets fell on Monday, October 26, with the Nifty 50 down 0.60 per cent at 22,464 in early trade, hurt by elevated crude oil prices, ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and weak global cues that dampened investor sentiment. Brent crude held steady near $115 a barrel, although it slipped from its six-month peak on attacks on Saudi Arabian infrastructure that stoked fears of supply disruptions. Investors were also cautious ahead of key policy decisions by central banks including the upcoming meeting of the US Federal Reserve and a busy week of corporate earnings releases. The Indian benchmarks continued their losing streak as the Nifty 50 fell for four consecutive sessions last week and the broader market weakness mirrored continued risk aversion.

According to NSE data, FIIs were net buyers in the cash market on Friday, October 23, buying shares worth ₹887.65 crore, while DIIs were net buyers to the tune of ₹3,235.36 crore. But even with institutional buying, market sentiment was hit by persistent geopolitical uncertainty and high oil prices.

Amidst this backdrop, here are the top gainers and losers in the Nifty 500 index.

Top Gainers for October 26: TATACHEM, BHARATCOAL & DRREDDY Gain Up to 4.9%

Tata Chemicals Ltd Price Jumps 4.9%

At 9:30 AM: Tata Chemicals Ltd is among the top gainers on the Nifty 500 today. It is currently trading at ₹605.25, up 4.9% from its previous close on NSE, following a favourable legal development involving its Kenyan subsidiary, Tata Chemicals Magadi Ltd (TCML). On October 23, Kenya’s High Court ruled that it lacked jurisdiction over the dispute concerning the subsidiary and could not proceed further. The development may have eased some investor concerns surrounding the company’s Kenyan operations. However, TCML is still examining the order, and the company’s next steps remain uncertain.

Trading volumes stood at 15.4 lakh, compared with the 30-day average volume of 32.7 lakh shares.

Revenue increased 39% year-on-year to ₹4,413 crore from ₹3,173 crore, while EBITDA turned positive at ₹200 crore against a loss of ₹383 crore a year ago. Higher sales volumes and improved realisations supported the recovery, strengthening investor sentiment towards the stock.

Dr Reddys Laboratories Ltd  Share gains 3.8%

At 9:30 am, the Dr Reddys Laboratories Ltd share price was trading at ₹1,271.30, up by 3.8% from its previous close on the NSE, amid investor focus on its Q2 FY27 results announced on October 23. Operating performance also weakened, with EBITDA falling 7.7% to ₹246.5 crore and the EBITDA margin contracting to 13% from 17% a year earlier. AU Small Finance Bank Ltd Share Price Declines 6.8%

AU Small Finance Bank Ltd. shares saw selling pressure on Monday, October 26 with the stock trading at ₹868.90, down 6.8% from its previous close around 9:30 am, despite reporting a strong year-on-year increase in quarterly profit. The decline followed its Q2 FY27 results announced on October 24, with investors reacting negatively despite improved earnings. The bank's net profit rose 53% year-on-year to ₹858 crore, while net interest income increased 32% to ₹2,820 crore. However, operating expenses rose 26% to ₹2,077 crore, and advance yields declined by 27 basis points year-on-year due to a change in loan mix. Broader market weakness and selling across banking stocks also weighed on the share price.

Trading volumes stood at 38.1 lakh shares, compared with the 30-day average volume of 16.2 lakh shares.

CRISIL Ltd Share Price Drops 5.9%

CRISIL Ltd share faced selling pressure on Monday, October 26, and was trading at ₹4,469.40, down 5.9% from its previous close on the NSE. The decline comes despite the company reporting a 20.2% year-on-year increase in consolidated income from operations for Q2 FY27. However, profit before tax grew by a more modest 5.3% during the quarter, indicating that profit growth was slower than income growth. The company also announced an interim dividend of ₹17 per share. While broader market weakness may have contributed to the decline.

Trading volumes stood at 68 thousand shares, compared with the 30-day average volume of 41 thousand shares.
