On 12th May 2022, Siemens Ltd announced its quarterly results for the second quarter of FY2022.

Key Highlights:

- For the second quarter of the Financial Year 2022 ended March 31, 2022, Siemens Limited registered a Revenue of Rs.3,568 crore, an 8.2% increase over the same quarter in the preceding year. 

- New Orders stood at Rs.5,339 crore, registering a 61.4% increase over the same period last year. 

- The Company’s Order Backlog stands at a healthy Rs.17,174 crore. Profit after Tax from continuing operations of Rs.329 crore, increased by 4.1% over the same period last year.

Commenting on the results Sunil Mathur, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Siemens Limited, said, “All our businesses have booked strong growth in order income reflecting a clear upswing in both Public and Private Capex spending with high-value orders being booked in our Mobility segment. Revenues and profitability have been impacted as a result of global supply chain challenges leading to delays in deliveries and increases in commodity and logistic costs. We expect revenue growth to pick up in subsequent quarters.”

Siemens Limited offers products, integrated solutions for industrial applications for manufacturing industries, drives for process industries, intelligent infrastructure and buildings, efficient and clean power generation from fossil fuels and oil & gas applications, transmission and distribution of electrical energy for passenger and freight transportation, including rail vehicles, rail automation, and rail electrification systems.

 

Business Segments:

Energy Segment (40% of revenues)

The company Provides fully integrated products, solutions, and services across the energy value chain of oil and gas production, power generation, and transmission for various customers such as utilities, independent power producers, and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) companies.

Smart Infrastructure Segment (28% of revenues)

The company is a supplier of products, systems, solutions, and services for the transmission and distribution of electrical energy for power utilities, industrial companies, and infrastructure segments. The portfolio covers systems for low & medium voltage distribution, solutions for smart grids and energy automation, and for low voltage power supply systems.

Digital Industries Segment (19% of revenues)

The company has a portfolio of leading-edge automation, drives, and software technologies covering the complete life cycle from product design and production execution to services for discrete and process Industries.

Mobility Segment (9% of revenues)

The Company’s Mobility business offers intelligent and efficient mobility solutions and freight transportation covering the entire gamut of Rail infrastructure comprising signaling and electrification and Rolling Stock components and systems.

Portfolio Companies (4% of revenues)

Portfolio Companies is a dedicated business focused on specific industry verticals such as Minerals, Mining and Cement, Irrigation, Oil & Gas, Metals, Pulp and Paper, Marine Ports, Renewables, and Defense.

Geographical Presence

The company receives ~77% of its revenues from its business within India while the rest 32% of its revenues come from business outside India.
