At 12.45 pm on Thursday, the Sensex fell and was trading at 55,301.59 down by 167.31 points, or 0.30% and the Nifty was down by 53.80 points or 0.28 % at 16,558.90 levels, respectively.

The West and allies are imposing sanctions on Russia on all types of businesses. All the major global credit rating companies have downgraded the Russian bonds and have given them a “junk” bond rating thus making it difficult for it to repay its debt and participate in global markets.     

The top five gainers in the Nifty 50 pack are Wipro, Coal India, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, and Power Grid Corporation of India. Meanwhile, the top five stocks pulling down the index are Asian paints, HDFC Life Insurance Company, Shree Cements, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, and HUL.

BSE Midcap index is trading at a level of 23,313.12 down by 0.01%. The top 3 gainers of the index were Vodafone Idea, Rajesh Exports, and Indian Hotels. Each of these scrips gained more than 3%. The top three stocks dragging the index were Orient Bell, AU Small Finance Bank, and ACC Cement.

BSE Smallcap index is trading at 26,800.45, up by 0.64 %. The top three gainers are STC India, Future Enterprises DVR, and Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation. Each of these stocks gained more than 19%. The top three stocks pulling the index down include Orient Bell, Brightcom Group, and Rossell India.

Almost all the sectoral indices on the BSE were trading bearish, with only BSE IT, BSE Oil and Gas, BSE Metal, and BSE Utilities gaining more than 1%.
