Introduction

The Aadhaar card is a 12-digit Unique Identification Number allotted by the Government of India to every Aadhaar card holder. Although it is a voluntary document, it is essential for various purposes. From government subsidy programs to identification as an Indian citizen, the Aadhaar card authenticates identity.

PAN card (Permanent Account Number) and Aadhaar card are also linked for better security and several government-mandated processes.

Locate an Aadhaar enrollment centre

To apply for an Aadhaar card, one must find an Aadhaar enrollment centre. These centres help in the Aadhaar application and clarify various doubts about how to apply for a new Aadhaar Card. There are multiple Aadhaar centres located across each city.

To locate the Aadhaar enrollment centre, you can visit the UIDAI website for Aadhaar enrollment centres. After entering the details like state, city, or postal code, you will get a list of all the Aadhaar enrollment centres. You can choose from the list and visit the nearest centre. Before visiting any enrollment centre, you must collect all the documents to apply for an Aadhaar card.

Documents required are proof of age, proof of address, and proof of identity. For a complete list of required documents, check the UIDAI website for the documents required for Aadhaar.

Visit an Enrollment centre

Once you pick the centre, it is recommended to book an appointment before visiting the enrollment centre. Some of these centres are digitized, and they have the facility to book an appointment online before visiting. This reduces the effort of waiting at the centre.

Additionally, you can take an appointment for Aadhaar-related issues. For instance, you can take an appointment for changing or updating address, mobile number, email ID, date of birth, gender, and even biometrics (fingerprint and iris scan). You can also visit the enrollment centre directly and ask for the enrollment form.

Enrolling for Aadhaar

You can enroll for Aadhaar at the enrollment centre in a few simple steps. If you want to apply for Aadhaar for a family member, it is mandatory that the family member should be present physically along with their documents.

●  Visit the enrollment centre and get an Aadhaar enrollment form.

●  Fill out the form with the required details and give it to the person in charge at the centre along with the documents required.

●  It is essential to carry the original documents for verifications.

●  After filling out the form, you can proceed with biometric verification.

●  Biometric verification means the scanning of ten fingerprints and two irises. If there is a disability due to which you cannot give all ten fingerprints or two irises’ scans, the officer at the enrollment centre would help to ensure quick resolution.

●  The operator at the enrollment centre gives an acknowledgement slip with the Enrollment Identity Number (EID).

2. In the introducer option, introducers are available at the enrollment centres, and the Registrar notifies the Introducer. Introducers are individuals like registrar’s employees, elected local body members, individuals of local administrative offices, Anganwadi workers or Asha workers.
