Best performing mutual funds in the month of February 2022

February 2022 was the affirmation of the negative bias witnessed in January 2022. In this article we have listed the best-performing equity, debt and hybrid funds for February 2022.

Markets (S&P BSE 500) were down mere by 0.4%, however, continued its southwards journey by ending the month almost 4% down. If we segregate it between the large-cap, mid-cap and small-cap, then S&P BSE 100, S&P BSE Mid-Cap and S&P BSE Small-Cap indices generated negative returns of 3.26%, 5.11% and 8.77%, respectively. Such a performance was amid the rising crude oil prices and weakening of the Indian rupee against dollar.

Due to the fact that the Federal Reserve is considering a rate hike, the Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPI) have sold profoundly to around Rs 35,592 crore in the month of February 2022. Moreover, compared to the other emerging markets, India is carrying a rich valuation which made the foreign investors think about safety amid geopolitical tensions between Russia and Ukraine. Inflation has also moved beyond the Reserve Bank of India’s range.

For equity and hybrid funds, we have assumed five-year annualised trailing returns and for debt funds, we have assumed three-year annualised trailing returns.
