Equity markets have been trading with a negative bias and at such unprecedented times, it’s time to rebalance your portfolio. In this post, we would be listing top equity MFs that outperformed markets during volatile times.

On March 7, 2022, Nifty 50 fell sharply as global stock markets came under selling pressure amid rising crude oil prices that are hitting USD 130 a barrel. Yesterday, Nifty 50 witnessed a gap down opening and further extended its fall. At the end of the session, Nifty 50 was down 2.35% at 15,836 registering a seven-month low. Moreover, yesterday it sank the most in the last seven days.

Amid the geopolitical tensions continuing to escalate, the European stocks started their trading session in the red. Moreover, it also hit the commodity markets due to the risk of a likely ban on the import of oil from Russia helping it to add a further surge in oil prices. Nifty 50 is currently nearing its support levels of 15,700 to 15,900. Yesterday, these levels have acted as support as price reversed from this band twice during the day.

If we look at the Nifty 50 technical chart then it has been trading in a lower high and lower low fashion since October 19, 2021, and till now it has witnessed two lower tops and lower bottoms. Therefore, technically we might be on the verge to enter a bear phase. However, this would completely depend on global cues.

Having said that, this presents an excellent opportunity to add more to equity mutual funds and is also a good time to re-balance your portfolio. Hence, in this post, we have listed top equity mutual funds that outperformed the Nifty 500 Total Returns Index (TRI) from October 19, 2021, till date.
