Larsen & Toubro's (L&T) construction arm, L&T construction received prestigious orders for its Water & Effluent Treatment Business from the Tumakuru Industrial Township (TITL) as part of the Chennai Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC), as well as repeat orders from the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD Board), Government of Tamil Nadu, which are funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

On an EPC basis, TITL has given the order to design, construct, test, commission, operate, and maintain infrastructure works at the Tumakuru Node in Karnataka. The scope of work includes the design and construction of 38 kilometres of roads, as well as storm water drains, cross drainage structures, potable and recycled water supply systems, sewerage and effluent collection networks, power distribution systems including street lighting, a 7 MLD water treatment plant, a 3 MLD sewerage treatment plant, a 2.5 MLD common effluent treatment plant, service reservoirs, and an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) building, as well as the operation and maintenance of the complete system for four years.

This project is part of the Government of India's flagship 'Development of Industrial Corridors' programme, which is overseen by the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), the apex body in charge of overseeing the integrated development of all industrial corridors across the country. The programme envisions developing 1750 acres of land to promote industries, residential areas, commercial complexes, logistic hubs, and other uses. It also includes the development of 80 acres of green cover in Tumakuru.

TWAD Board also directed the provision of 'Underground Sewerage Scheme (UGSS)' works in Coimbatore. The scope of work includes the installation of house service connections, a sewerage network, a pumping main, road restoration, and pumping and lift stations in the Vadavalli, Veerakeralam, Kavundampalayam, and Thudiyalur areas, which will serve a population of approximately 3 lakhs when completed. The company is currently working on a similar UGSS project in Coimbatore, and the repeat orders reinforce the customer's confidence in L&T's capabilities.
