The headline indices Sensex and Nifty 50 were in green today and almost up by 1.7%, following hints from easing global market indices and the status quo maintained by the Reserve Bank of India in the monetary policy announced today.

At 2.15 pm on Wednesday, the headline indices Sensex and Nifty 50 were seen trading at 58,582 and 17,447 levels, respectively.

The top 5 gainers of Sensex were Bajaj Finance Ltd, Bajaj Finserv Ltd, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), and HCL Technologies Ltd. Whereas, the top 3 losers were Power Grid Corporation Ltd and Kotak Mahindra Bank.

The Nifty Midcap 100 index is trading at 30,734 and is up by 1.48%. The top 3 gainers of the index were Adani Total Gas Ltd, Indian Hotels Company Ltd, and Syngene International Ltd. All these stocks were up by more than 3%. Similarly, the top 3 stocks dragging the index include Whirlpool of India Ltd, Sanofi India Ltd, and Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd.

The Nifty Smallcap 100 index is trading at 11,035, up by 2%. The top 3 gainers are Vakrangee Ltd, Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd, Route Mobile Ltd. Each of these scrips was up by more than 6%. The top 3 stocks dragging the index were Blue Star Ltd, BEML, Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd.

The Nifty 50 sectoral indices have recovered losses from the previous sessions with the Nifty IT index being up by almost 2% and Nifty Media up by 2.4%. The Nifty Financial Services and Bank sectoral indices were up, taking positive cues from the recently announced RBI Monetary policy, where the central bank maintained the status quo about interest rates.
