Volatility in the market is inching since September 2021 presenting an opportunity to invest in quality midcap stocks. In this post, we have listed top-quality midcap stocks to consider investing in.
Amid high volatility, domestic benchmark indices snapped their 3-day losing streak on Monday. Nifty 50 witnessed crucial support near the 17,000 level and advanced back to reclaim the 17,200 level. Banking and auto stocks supported the markets.
As investors mostly looked beyond the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Federal Reserve’s commentary being progressively hawkish, the US market witnessed a second straight week of gains. Moreover, on Friday, Moscow showed signs of cooling off and shrugging its Ukraine ambition and focus on territory claimed by Russian-backed separatists.
On the sectoral front, PSU banks, metal and oil & gas proved to be the top gainers, whereas consumer durables, pharma and IT ended negative. Having said that, for the second consecutive trading session, hotels stocks continued their sharp up move.
The market breadth, as measured by the advanced and decline ratio depicted weakness. Out of around 3,000 plus stocks traded on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), only 1,175 stocks advanced, while 2,306 stocks declined. On the other hand, broader market underperformed benchmark indices as Nifty Midcap Index and Nifty Smallcap 100 Index ended the day with losses of 0.2% and 0.7%, respectively.
As we see some positive cues on the global front and market trend being more or less bullish, the hope of the market heading northwards from the current consolidation looks much more promising.
