Domestic indices fell sharply dragged by finance and realty stocks.  

Following Cisco Systems' optimistic outlook, which saw its shares surge 6%, major Wall Street indices ended the day slightly higher on Thursday, boosting the tech industry. The Nasdaq Composite added 0.21%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up 0.05%, and the S&P 500 advanced 0.23%.

BSE IT and BSE Teck gained in line with the rise in US IT and technology sector equities, while Indian benchmark indices fell. The top gaining sectors were BSE Power and BSE Utilities, both led by shares of Adani Green Energy, which surged more than 6%. The majority of the sectors were trading down, with the top two losers being the banking and real estate sectors.

At 11:45 am, the BSE Sensex declined 0.91%, reaching a level of 59,748. The Nifty 50 index slipped 0.93% to 17,789 level. On the Sensex, Larsen and Toubro, Infosys and Tech Mahindra were the top gainers, while IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv were the top losers.

In the broader markets, the BSE Midcap index plunged 1.11% and was trading at a level of 25,005, whereas the Smallcap index fell 0.67% and was trading at a level of 28,249.
